Heather grew up in Bismarck N.D. She then moved to Steamboat Springs CO. and resided there for six years. There she began mushing dogs as a tour guide for Red Runner Dog Sled Tours. She got hooked! In 2003 she moved to Talkeetna Alaska and began working for Jerry Sousa and Kathleen Holden at Sundog Kennels. There she learned how to do long distance races. In her years of being in Alaska she gained experience in the Don Bowers 200 race and qualified in her 300 mile race in 2006. Heather ran her first Iditarod in 2007 and finished 56th. She now is preparing for the 2008 Iditarod. In her spare time, Heather says her hobby is dogs, just ask her!
